Mayor’s Message for February 2019
There are many topics that City Council will be addressing in the coming weeks and months. Long term planning for the city. What are the goals the city should be thinking about in conjunction with the long term plans for our community and local government? The city Aquatic Center. This discussion will begin at a council workshop to be held on Monday, March 11 following a City Council meeting that begins at 6 PM.
The workshop will begin with what plans council and committee members have formulated on how to approach the pool both in the short term and more importantly the long term viability in having the pool in operation for the next couple of decades. Council members are researching various ideas and cost structures on different approaches to improve the pool. It is anticipated that the input that was provided by the Citizens Advisory Committee in 2018, the pool studies which were also completed in 2018 and with council input the conversation will hopefully provide some guidance on the direction to move.
Long term planning will review several topics. From what should we as a council be planning on for city growth? What local government structures need to be provided for this future growth? How is this accommodated in our current boundaries? Is the city hall structure which will be 100 years old in 2023 still serve our communities needs 5, 10 years from now? The planning topic can encompass so much more that it will up to the council members in the workshop to determine where this conversation will lead.
If you as a citizen have any thoughts on these topics for March you can submit those to my email address at;
